 check02_red.gifThe STORY : Created in 1999 by musicians deciding to express their love for cuban an afro-latin music through their jazzmen sensibility.

 check02_red.gifThe MUSIC :The band plays his own compositions and arrrangements, some salsa or latin-jazz chosen tunes and traditionnal pieces coming from different places of the carribean area. The musical universe of la Esquina Latina is coloured by this exploration of the afrolatin rythms richness, the integratin of harmonies and improvisation coming from jazz and the use of accordeon, traditionnal percussions (bata drums, venezualian maracas, etc.)

The musicians of the band know eachothers and work together for a long time.

They really enjoy to play together and this friendship can be seen and heard in the energy, the cohesion and the fun they share with the audience when they are on stage..

Nicolas Arnoult : (piano, accordeon, background vocals, composition).
His experience as a jazz musician (Nanga Parbat, Emil13, etc.), teacher and as a sideman with singers (F. Muller) is precious to the band whenever he plays montunos or solos

Serge Burghard : (saxophone, background vocals, composition)
Has toured in France and Europe with
Les Tapageurs ( jazz brassband) et Soha/Groovy D (Hip Hop jazz). His contribution reflects the wide range of his experiences.

Guy Constant : (percussions, background vocals, composition)
Involved in shows including music (Akacombé, GroupeEmil), dance (african, A. Ailey's dancers), theater. His knowledge of the african tradition and his energy contributes to build the rhythmic foundation

René Dagognet : (trumpet, flugelhorn, background vocals)
Plays or as played on stage or records with such european jazz musicians as H. Texier; F. Jeanneau, J.L Déat, Pierre Boesflug, etc. His rich and powerful sound fits well to latin jazz who emphasizes his talent for improvisation..

Jean-Luc Déat : (bass)
Known as well as a leader of his own jazz quintet as an appeciated sidemen, has toured abroad with Kilimandjaro (blues), Ana Popovic, etc. The strength of his groove and his musical ideas are important for the identity of the sextet.

Fabrice Richard : (percussions, background vocals)
Has learned for example with
R. Viscaiano / Cuba, J. Delgado, José Madera / New York and played with Akacombé, Dalia Negra, Pancho Quinto, etc. He gives rich afro-cuban colors to the music of the band.
